9/11 Memorial Flag Garden at Binghamton University

A dozen Binghamton University students set the campus ablaze with red, white and blue Sunday night as they planted small flags for each of the 2,977 individuals murdered in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
BU College Republicans arranged the annual memorial for the first time three years ago, inspired by the students’ need to remember loved ones they had lost when the Twin Towers fell. “We really didn’t feel that there was a big enough event on campus,” said Nick Valiando, executive chairman for BU College Republicans. “It’s nice to let people know that we haven’t forgotten, no one has forgotten.”
